LOUISVILLE, KY, USA– (April 24, 2012) – D.D. Williamson announces that its six caramel colour operations, located on five continents, are now officially certified by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). GFSI is widely considered to be the “gold standard” for international food safety. DDW has achieved its goal of GFSI certification at all caramel colour production facilities, placing the company at the leading edge of advanced food safety practices.

GFSI is a non-profit benchmarking organization that seeks to continuously improve food production and manufacturing systems to ensure the global supply chain is safe for consumers. In most cases, the level of food safety attained through GFSI far surpasses the requirements of international, federal and state standards.

“We are proud to say that each caramel colour operation achieved an “A” ranking,” said Ted Nixon, Chairman and CEO.

DDW’s certified subsidiaries are located in Louisville, KY, USA; Manchester, UK; Co. Cork, Ireland; Manaus, Brazil; Matsapha, Swaziland; and Shanghai, China.
