Louisville, KY, USA — April 9th, 2012 – Consumers see a close relationship between “natural” and “organic” when it comes to foods and beverages, according to David Schmidt, President & CEO, International Food Information Council Foundation. During a video interview for DDW’s “Expert Answers” series, he shared insight on consumer perception.
“Many consumers don’t distinguish between the two,” observed Schmidt.
Because both natural and organic foods must meet the same regulatory standards for food safety, the difference between natural and organic “is more of a philosophy than it is a safety issue,” added Schmidt.
