(2) The term caramel relates to products of a more or less brown color which are intended for coloring. It does not correspond to the sugary aromatic products obtained from heating sugars and which is used for flavouring food (e.g., confectionery, pastry, alcoholic drinks).

Part 1

The following colors may be used in foodstuffs mentioned in Annex V Part 2 and in all other foodstuffs other than those listed in Annexes II and III at quantum satis
