New Color: Pumpkin Bisque

Pumpkin Bisque is a new color offered by DDW in 2012. Based on consumer color trend forecasts for food and beverage applications, Pumpkin Bisque is a more traditional orange hue than what we have seen in recent years. Pumpkin Bisque is a new hue that was launched during IFT 2012 and featured during the 2012 IFT Food Expo’s “Trend and Solution Tour” in the category of “Emerging Flavors and Colors.”

We forecast Pumpkin Bisque as a contemporary fruit and vegetable hue to assist new product developers. We can offer naturally derived formulations to achieve Pumpkin Bisque, depending on our customers’ specific food or beverage application.

The Future of Yellow

In what direction is the yellow hue of the future headed? In the following episode of our “Expert Answers Series” we asked color expert Cindy Gapter of Dorn Color, Inc. to tell us her predictions for future trends in the color yellow.

At a recent color trend workshop, Cindy tells us that yellows had more green tones. “Yellow was more green-yellow. We actually made it a green and an orange, so we had a marigold color,” explained Gapter. There were also shades of green-yellow that were a little warmer than we’ve seen in previous years. The forecast yellow, Gapter says, “has less of a sharp edge to it [and] the green-yellow is warmer and more usable.” Read the full interview with Cindy Gapter.
