Jennifer Guild Discusses Changes in Food Ingredient Regulations

Louisville, KY, USA — Jennifer Guild, regulatory expert and DDW’s Global Food Science & Regulatory Manager, discusses recent changes in food ingredient regulations in this episode of DDW’s Expert Answers Series.

We asked Ms. Guild how the food ingredient regulatory environment is changing from a customer’s perspective. “Food additives are regulated globally but those global regulations are not harmonized so the challenge is finding a food additive that you can use in a global application,” Guild says.


As an alternative, companies could develop food or beverage products “that are region-specific based on the regional regulations governing that food additive.”

Guild presented at this month’s Food Ingredients Conference. Entitled “Advances in Natural Colour,” the natural colouring conference took place in London, UK, in February. Her full presentation will soon be available to view and download on DDW’s Expert Answers page.
